Calexico Return Sounding Like Calexico

Break out the rattle-snake maracas: Desert-rock veterans Calexico are returning this fall with Algiers, their first studio effort since 2008's Carried to Dust. Their longtime label Touch & Go folded in 2009, but they've since joined Tom Waits, Neko Case, Wilco, Islands and Man Man over at Anti- Records. "Para" is the first single, and it's vintage Calexico: Joey Burns' whispery vocals glide over an ominous guitar line and poignant horns. The accompanying visual intersperses old home movies with Burns wandering around a desolate landscape.

Algiers arrives September 11.
