Kanye is back! Not that he ever particularly went anywhere, but with the leak of the song "Theraflu" 'Ye has once again shown that not since Ol' Dirty Bastard has any rapper quite so wonderfully excelled at the grand art of upstaging. But this time he's overshadowing himself by releasing a new song the day before he reignites his own G.O.O.D. Fridays free music series tomorrow with "Mercy."
Attacking the menacing Hit Boy-crafted production like he's royally peed-off, "Theraflu" sparks into life with Kanye doffing his hat to his all-time favorite MC Ma$e via the rap's opening couplet, after which the foppish rapper quickly asserts that if you want to talk about clothes then he'll "motherfuckin' embarrass you." (As if we expected anything less!) He then adds some grist to the gossip mill by referring to his relationship with a Kardashian and confessing, "I'll admit I fell in love with Kim." As the track climaxes, 'Ye enters synergy mode by peppering the song with a bunch of coughing sounds as he warns how he's "Way too cold, I promise you need some Theraflu" -- although it's hard to feel much in the way of sympathy for a congested rapper when they also brag about a "$6,000 pair of shoes."
