Gorillaz, Andre 3000, James Murphy "DoYaThing" Collab Surfaces

The most interesting part of "DoYaThing," the Converse-sponsored collaboration between Gorillaz, Andre 3000 and LCD Soundsytem's James Murphy, comes right at the end of the four-and-a-half minute track. No, it's not Albarn wonking on about plastic beaches or Murphy barking about drunk girls. Instead, someone -- it's not really clear who, but probably Andre 3k -- poses the question "Can we get an Outkast album now?" Funny enough, we've been wondering that exact same thing for oh, about forever at this point.

The song itself sounds like what you'd expect a Gorillaz tune to sound like: fast, electro- funk pop that's has Gorillaz' Damon Albarn talk-singing about laying in bed and feeling confused amidst a bunch of robotic samples. Andre 3000 delivers a few verses of furious- sounding freestyle that has him referencing Slick Rick a few times, and singing about space and getting through tough aspects of romantic relationships. It's a fun, quick jaunt, but nothing spectacular -- like a new Outkast album would be. [Listen and Download at Converse.com]
