The Blur Comeback Continues at the Brit Awards

It's been a big week for Britpop kings Blur. They're now the headliners for the London Olympics closing ceremonies this summer. A new Blur tune called "Under the Westway" has slipped out into the ethos, courtesy of Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon's recent performance at a War Child benefit this past weekend. But it was last night's takeover at the Brit Awards that has fans salivating (and rushing to buy music) the most. Not only did the band take home a "Outstanding Contribution to Music" gong, as Consequence of Sound points out, but these performance videos from the evening are chock full of the (now) oldies but goodies. Sure, Albarn sounds a bit off when he screams "parklife" during "Parklife" and a bit wheezy and old during "Girls & Boys," but you gotta give them credit for bringing a massive, Blur-branded stage show. In other words, this reunion, or whatever we're calling it feels like a legit thing. And to be a part of the crowd during the "Song 2" lightshow spectacular looks fun, in a hey-you-used-to-mosh kinda way. So whether or not Blur's just in it for the money, or they're making their modern life a bit more exciting, who's to know. Listening to Albarn bellow out "This is a Low" is worth a pass and prayer they'll announce some U.S. dates.
