As evident in just about everything the Foo Fighters stand for, Dave Grohl loves him some metal. But over the years, we've learned there's more to him than his heavy persona. In honor of the Foo's newest album Wasting Light, here's five other things that the Foo Fighter/Them Crooked Vultures/Queens of the Stone Age/Nirvana musician likes besides a great axe to grind.
1. His garage
Big time rock stars can record anywhere, but Grohl chose his own garage to lay down the tracks to Wasting Light -- a fact that Foo fans will be reminding us of for years to come.
2. Gifts from Paul McCartney
When Sir Paul bought Grohl's baby some clothes as a gift, Dave framed them and said the baby would never wear them.
3. The sanctity of Kurt Cobain's image
In 2009, Activision obtained the rights to use Kurt Cobain's likeness in Guitar Hero 5. Suddenly we were able to have Kurt sing songs by Bon Jovi, Public Enemy and countless other people who (definitely) aren't Kurt Cobain. Dave Grohl took to the internet to state his disappointment, saying they should keep him only singing Nirvana songs.
4. A sweet guest spot
Grohl's guested on tracks by Tenacious D, David Bowie, Cat Power, Nine Inch Nails, Pete Yorn, Killing Joke, Mike Watt, the Prodigy, Slash and Juliette Lewis. And probably a bunch of others we forgot to put in here.
5. Fresh pots
Maybe more than music itself, the man loves him some coffee.
