Relive The Past Year In 3 Minutes With MTV News’ Year In Review

2015 compelled us to look more deeply at our own identities and roles as citizens of the world.

2015 was a year that showed us the best and worst humanity has to offer. It was a year that compelled us to look more deeply at our own identities and roles as citizens of the world, and challenged us to be better and do better.

From the triumphant wins for visibility, the environment and basic human rights to the somber reminders of violence, suffering and inequality around the world, here's MTV News' 2015 year in review:

The video reminds us that this year we saw a huge victory as same-sex marriage was made legal across the United States; we ushered in an era of renewed visibility for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals who have been kept in the margins for so long; we witnessed increased anxiety about gun violence, both here and abroad; we saw the world welcome (and, too often, reject) refugees who were forced to flee their homes.

While it would be impossible to fit every story and issue that captured our hearts, minds and attention in the last twelve months into a two minute video, these are some of most the powerful narratives that totally rocked our collective worlds.
