This Is What One Direction Wore For Their Final Performance (Before Their Hiatus)

They've come such a long way since their first performance.

On Sunday night (Dec. 12), One Direction returned to "The X Factor" stage, for their final performance before their hiatus. "The X Factor" is, of course, where 1D got their start, so the emotional performance of "History" was especially poignant, as the band's journey came full circle.

One thing that has certainly not come full circle since their 2010 beginnings, though, is Louis, Liam, Niall, and Harry's style—a development we should all be thankful for.

For Sunday night's performance, the band subtly coordinated, while remaining true to each member's individual style. While Harry's floral suit—Gucci, again, of course—sticks out, its red-and-blue color palette actually matches the rest of the band's outfits. The blue is picked up in Louis and Niall's navy blazers, while the pink of the flowers is reflected in Liam's blazer. Louis' pink cuffs and Niall's oxblood tie unite the overall coordination, a style choice we haven't seen on red carpets or during performances in a while.

The band's first performance on the show was nowhere near as united, except for in bagginess of pants. With Harry in a cowl neck plaid shirt, Louis in a polo and capris, Niall in a denim shirt, Zayn in a plaid shirt, and Liam in an open button-down shirt, it's hard to imagine that these five dudes would ever wear skintight jeans and well-tailored tops. We are so, so happy they did, though. Wow.

Their final performance—for now!!!—marks just how far they've come in five years, especially when it comes to fashion. If this is, in fact, the last we see of them for a while, it's a great look to go out on.

See you soon, guys!
