Willow Smith's debut album is here, and we weren't really expecting it.
I mean, yes, the singer tweeted "Dec. 11th" earlier this month, but that could meant anything. But to our delight, on Friday (Dec. 11), the singer tweeted a link to iTunes, where fans can listen to Ardipithecus, the Smith progeny's anticipated album.
"Ardipithecus Ramidus is the scientific name of the first hominid bones found on earth," Willow wrote to The Fader. "I wanted to name my musical compilation after it because, while I was making these songs I was in such a transitional state. Digging deep in the soil of my heart and finding bits and pieces of my ancient self that tell stories, which end up being the lyrics to the songs. Ardipithecusis my first album in my entire career and it makes me feel so blessed to be able to share my evolution with the LightEaters as I continue excavating my inner worlds…"
After releasing a series of one-offs and her 3 EP, we finally have a full project from Willow. Listen to the album on Spotify here:
