Known Ewok enthusiast and one-time MTV Artist Of The Year Sam Smith may have won four Grammys and recorded the theme to this year's James Bond film, "Spectre," but he still gets tripped up when he reads the comments -- as we all do.
But where we might only have to deal with a handful of notes at the bottom of our Instagram posts (or a small onslaught of weird tweets in our mentions), Sam has to deal with another level of scrutiny: the critics. Understandably, he's kind of over it now.
Late Tuesday night, he sent out a string of messages on Twitter that underscore what's important to him, and honestly, what should be important with everyone.
The takeaway? Do you, man, and don't let a few small pockets of negativity affect what you're doing. We could all learn from that.
In addition to living his truth, Sam's also been busy getting his truth inked on his skin. He recently shared his four new tattoos on Instagram, all done by artist Stanislava Pinchuk (known as Miso).
"First one - the equality sign on my wedding finger. This ones pretty self explanatory. It shows my views on gay marriage and equality for all x"
Inspired By An Ice Mummy
"Second - this tattoo is inspired by one of the oldest tattoos ever found on a mummified body that was found buried alone in the ice."
"Third - This is what I promise to be in my music. It's what I live by. In the words of @mariamena_official 'Honesty is my God'"
"And lastly - this is just me being a melancholy twat haha. I do see it as a small positive thou... No longer lonely... Just alone... Which is ok x thought I'd share these with you because I love them ❤️"
Keep doing what you're doing, Sam. We'll do the same.
