Here Are The ‘Wiz Live!’ Moments Everyone’s Talking About

Sexy poppies, turnt tornadoes... this show was LIT.

Sorry to break it to you, but if you didn't watch “The Wiz Live!” tonight (Dec. 3), you missed one hell of a show.

Viewers around the country cautiously but excitedly set off down the yellow brick road Thursday, clicking their heels together as they whispered, “I hope this isn’t as big a flop as ‘Sound of Music Live!’ or ‘Peter Pan Live!’”

Much to musical lovers’ relief, though, NBC’s third stab at a live winter production was thoroughly entertaining. Part of that’s due to the beautifully bonkers stage designs and costumes, but the credit lies mostly with its killer, all-star cast: Uzo Aduba, Mary J. Blige, Amber Riley, Common, Ne-Yo, David Alan Grier, Queen Latifah, Stephanie Mills, Elijah Kelley and newcomer Shanice Williams as Dorothy.

“The Wiz Live!” had big ruby red slippers to fill, and it definitely managed to win over fans of the original musical and beloved 1978 film, as well as Emerald City newbies.

In short, this show was LIT, so do yourself a favor and catch up on all the buzziest moments everyone’s talking about.

Shanice Williams: A star is born.

The Tornado (played by Cirque du Soliel dancers in creepy masks) was TURNT.

Amber Riley’s shameless Apple product placement was hilariously unexpected (but it's pretty dope that it matched her outfit, amirite?).

Ne-Yo was the smoothest Tin Man as he popped and locked during “Slide Some Oil to Me.” He even hit that dab and rocked his signature hat — is anyone surprised?

The munchkins had some seriously snazzy style.

But then the sexy poppies took over and it was all “HAYYY!”

Toto was mysteriously M.I.A. for about two and a half hours. ?

Club Emerald City is the hottest club in all the land (if the bouncer, Common, will let you in).

Mary J. Blige was only there for a hot minute, but damnit, she was the most glam villain in Oz and her steampunk lair was the bomb.

Uzo Aduba's arrival was way late in the game, but it was gloriously show-stopping.

And no one could stop the waterworks after Shanice sang "Home."

But the most important takeaway of all? People loved seeing so many talented black entertainers in one place.

And hopefully that'll have a meaningful impact on viewers, especially kids.
