Cumberbatch: 'No Formal Offers Have Been Made' For 'Episode VII' Role


Seriously, you guys--stop asking if he's going to play Grand Admiral Thrawn in "Star Wars: Episode VII"--he's obviously going to be some kind of Sith lord.

"Of course I'd like to be in it, of course I'd like to do it," the "Sherlock" actor tells MTV's Josh Horowitz during an interview for the Toronto International Film Festival. Cumberbatch was at TIFF 2013 promoting his work as Julian Assange in the drama "The Fifth Estate."

Casting details have been scarce since the announcement of "Episode VII," with LucasFilm and parent company Disney remaining coy about whether original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fischer, and Mark Hammill are even on board for the sequel.
