This week in webcomics, it’s all about education! We’re learning about social media, birth control, webcomic marketing and, er… hippie buffalo spirit guides.
5. Connie to the Wonnie: Yelling on Twitter!
Connie Sun has been running her daily comic diary for a couple years now, but thanks to Tom Spurgeon, she’s only recently come to some realizations about social media. It’s not so much her own revelation that’s worth noting here, but rather the idea that not everyone sees social media in the same way, and it’s worth pointing out that other people use the media differently. Stepping outside your own worldview, even with regards to how to use social media, is worth sharing.
4. Hell to Breakfast: The Vision Quest!
3. Sandra and Woo: Getting to premium!
2. Oyster War: It’s on!
You know, a good sea battle with cannons firing and all that is really cool, and we’ve been seeing that in Ben Towle’s Oyster War for the most of the month so far. But there’s something imminently more threatening (and cool!) when you’ve got guys brandishing cutlasses and rifles while swinging between ships on yard arms.
1. Oh Joy Sex Toy: Morning After Pill PSA
Look, everybody knows and loves Erika Moen, right? I don’t need to tell you about her latest webcomic Oh Joy Sex Toy where she reviews sex toys in comic form. But this week she basically ran a PSA on the Morning After Pill, which details, in pretty simple terms, what it actually does. A lot of its opponents dissemenate a lot of misinformation, and factual pieces such as Moen’s do a great job of explaining the pros and cons in an easy-to-understand, impossible-to-dispute manner.
