"Warm Bodies" director Jonathan Levine's horror debut gets a new trailer in advance of its long-delayed U.S. release. Does it have what it takes to get you hyped about this high school slasher?

It's a nice bait-and-switch piece, positioning "Mandy Lane" as a teen sex dramedy, with the film's male leads waxing rhapsodic about the chances of attaining the unattainable Mandy (Amber Heard), the much-desired Texas high school student who can't seem to give herself to any particular suitor. You could easily see this working as a coming-of-age film about a young woman discovering herself amid the sex, drugs, and craziness of a backwoods party.

But that's before the 45 second mark, when it's clear that all is not right in West Texas. Someone wants Mandy all to themselves and they're willing to kill for her. Although "Mandy Lane" wrapped principal photography about seven years ago, Levine's film still seems current and a little dangerous, with the emptiness of the Texas countryside serving as a nice, sinister backdrop for the action. Slashers aren't typically my forte (usually, they're pretty rote and the usual revenge plots are very same-y) but there's something about "Mandy Lane" that's kept me anticipating its since it first made the festival rounds all those years ago. I've resisted importing the U.K. DVD, hoping for a proper release here in the States, and hey, under a decade later, we've finally got it.

From the official synopsis:

Starring Amber Heard and Anson Mount, ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE is about a group of high-schoolers who invite Mandy Lane, “a good girl” who becomes the object of everyone’s affection after returning from summer break, to a weekend party on a secluded ranch. While the festivities rage on, the number of revelers begins to mysteriously drop one at a time.

"All the Boys Love Mandy Lane" will be available on demand September 6 with a theatrical release to follow October 11.
