Ghibli's next, the fantasy "The Story of Princess Kaguya," is revealed through nine new images from the prolific animation studio.

The stills were revealed in an a profile of Studio Ghibli from Japanese television network NHK. While retaining some of Studio Ghibli's distinctive art style, "Kaguya" appears to deliver a much more muted color palette than previous productions.

The film, titled "Kaguya Hime no Monogatari" in Japan, is co-written and directed by Studio Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata. The story is based on "Tale of the Bamboo Cutter," a piece of Japanese folklore about a little girl found inside of a piece of bamboo stalk, descended from the moon.

While the film doesn't yet have a release date for the U.S., Ghibli's latest, the dramatization of the invention of the Zero fighter "The Wind is Rising" is out now in Japanese theaters, while the very excellent "From Up On Poppy Hill" is getting a home video release in early September.
