Battle Arena Otaku Fight! Fight!: Staz Charlie Blood (‘Blood Lad’) vs. Wild Tiger (‘Tiger & Bunny’)

Welcome to 2013’s Battle Arena Otaku Fight! Fight!, MTV Geek’s annual brawl between the biggest and best in characters from anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture characters. Not only will we get a chance to spotlight some of most interesting, most intriguing, or simply odd characters from 2013, but it’s also a chance to you to have your voice heard. You know the drill: we’ll present the matchup, and you the reader will get to choose which character comes out on top. So which mech, heroine (or hero), monster, or mascot will come out on top this year?

It’s the veteran corporate superhero vs. the boy vampire–this one could get messy!

Staz has got problems: the “Blood Lad” protagonist is the boss of the Eastern District of the Demon World, but rather than drinking blood and taking names, he’s just a simple otaku who’d prefer to enjoy the anime, manga, and games of the human world. This unlikely hero is on a quest to bring his human dream girl back to life after she’s been eaten by a plant (and turned into a lowly ghost), making this boss a bodyguard in Yuuki Kodama ongoing manga (and its anime adaptation).

Meanwhile, what is Wild Tiger’s (aka Kotetsu T. Kaburagi) greatest ambition? Unlike the other costumed heroes of “Tiger & Bunny,” he’s less interested in winning the fan votes and ratings, than he is in defending life in the futuristic Sternbild City. Sure, he’s got an initially cold and ratings-obsessed partner in the rookie Barnaby Brooks Jr. (aka Bunny), but mentoring this young hero is Wild Tiger’s chance to show the world that beyond the flash, the brands, and the promotions, being a hero means showing courage and forgiveness.

Which will it be? The old pro or the young vamp? You’ll be the ones to decide!
