Welcome to 2013's Battle Arena Otaku Fight! Fight!, MTV Geek's annual brawl between the biggest and best in characters from anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture characters. Not only will we get a chance to spotlight some of most interesting, most intriguing, or simply odd characters from 2013, but it's also a chance to you to have your voice heard. You know the drill: we'll present the matchup, and you the reader will get to choose which character comes out on top. So which mech, heroine (or hero), monster, or mascot will come out on top this year?
Can a samurai rabbit defeat the "Defender of the Universe?" That's for you to decide as Stan Sakai's long-running anthropomorphic hero meets a robot made of lions (and 2012's Battle Arena finalist).
Wandering ronin Miyamoto Usagi has been around for nearly 30 years now, the creation of comic artist Stan Sakai and second only to the Ninja Turtles in terms of the 80's most popular and deadly talking animals. Walking the path of the Warrior's Journey, Usagi is a rabbit without a cause, offering his services to those in need in Sakai's animal version of Edo Japan. Brought to life in both comics and a popular role-playing game, this unlikely badass makes us wish a "Usagi Yojimbo" animated series would have somehow come to fruition back in the late 80's.
And Voltron. You know the name, you know the several different forms this combination mech has taken over the years, and you're probably really excited about the upcoming "Robotech" crossover and long-in-development movie. But will that excitement translate into enough votes to help the beloved robot rise the ranks for a second year? And if so, will Voltron be able to take it all this time around?
Rabbit samurai vs. robot savior: which one will win?
