Battle Arena Otaku Fight! Fight!: Mikoto Misaka (A Certain Scientific Railgun) vs. Saber (Fate / stay night)

Welcome to 2013's Battle Arena Otaku Fight! Fight!, MTV Geek's annual brawl between the biggest and best in characters from anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture characters. Not only will we get a chance to spotlight some of most interesting, most intriguing, or simply odd characters from 2013, but it's also a chance to you to have your voice heard. You know the drill: we'll present the matchup, and you the reader will get to choose which character comes out on top. So which mech, heroine (or hero), monster, or mascot will come out on top this year?

A mystical, ancient living weapon versus a high-ranking teen esper--it's magic vs. sci-fi in this matchup between "Fate / stay night" sword fighter Saber and "A Certain Scientific Railgun" student Mikoto Misaka.

If unlikely "Fate / stay night" hero Emiya will survive the clandestine Holy Grail War, it'll only be thanks to the help of Saber, this armored beauty and personification of skilled fighters of Arthurian legend. A knight, a lady, and once, a king (yep), Saber has joined her charge, Emiya, in the Fifth Holy Grail War in the hopes of helping him win and earn three wishes--before any of the other, less altruistic combatants take the prize. She's been featured in anime, a feature film, and, of course, Type Moon's original visual novels.

Saber's been around for a while, but how would she fare against a level 5 esper? That's the big question in this matchup, pitting her against "A Certain Scientific Index" side character turned "A Certain Scientific Railgun" heroine Mikato Misaka. This Electromaster can summon a blast of energy, using it to send her preferred projectile (arcade coins) rocketing towards her target. This lady Electro has a diverse and strange skill set that would make her formidable on the battlefield and downright scary in the Arena.

But is that enough power to defeat a legend? Which will you choose--the lady in armor or the girl with lightning in her hands?
