The new trailer for "Thor: The Dark World" includes lots of instantly recognizable characters: Loki, Jane Foster, Odin, Heimdall, Sif, the Warriors Three, even lead bad guy Malekith the Accursed.

But there's one character near the end who may not be too familiar to viewers, though he's one example of a group of characters who has been around since Thor's first appearance in "Journey Into Mystery" #83 all the way back in 1963. That issue's lead story was called "Thor the Mighty! And the Stone Men from Saturn!" and featured green versions of the guy Thor smashes all up in the trailer (spoiler alert for a trailer, I guess).

Since that classic Lee/Kirby issue, the Stone Men's race has come to be known as the Kronans, who are not actually from Saturn but are instead from a planet called Ria. Probably the most prominent Kronan in the Marvel Universe is Korg, who joined the Hulk's group of rebellious prisoners, the Warbound, during the Planet Hulk storyline.

Let's hope that dude who got all busted up wasn't him.
