Welcome to 2013's Battle Arena Otaku Fight! Fight!, MTV Geek's annual brawl between the biggest and best in characters from anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture characters. Not only will we get a chance to spotlight some of most interesting, most intriguing, or simply odd characters from 2013, but it's also a chance to you to have your voice heard. You know the drill: we'll present the matchup, and you the reader will get to choose which character comes out on top. So which mech, heroine (or hero), monster, or mascot will come out on top this year?
It's bloodline vs. bloodline as an English supernatural fighter goes head-to-head with a half-demon/half-angel monster hunter, and things are certain to get weird.
This year, Capcom and Ninja Theory's reboot of the "Devil May Cry" franchise gave us a younger Dante complete with an origin story as he and brother Virgil took on the demonic forces of Mundus. Developer Ninja Theory not only updated the fast-paced combat of the character action game, but enlisted "28 Days Later" and "Dredd" writer Alex Garland to craft the origin story of the sons of Sparda.
While some fans took issue with Dante's lanky, lean redesign, his utterly ridiculous rock star personality was left completely intact, giving us one of 2013's better games and leaving the franchise open to more early adventures for the half-blooded hero.
And it's all about the blood with Joe Joestar, one of the many heroes in Hirohiko Araki's sprawling supernatural martial arts manga "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure." The series, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, has spawned a new 26-episode animation as well as a new fighting game from "Asura's Wrath" developer CyberConnect2.
Will Joestar be able to take a Stand against the cocky demon killer? Or has young Dante finally met his match?
Polls close Sunday, August 18 at 11:59pm EDT!
