According to Doctor Who TV, in a live BBC1 broadcast on Sunday night August 4 at 7pm, the next actor (or actress) to take over the TARDIS on "Doctor Who" will be announced. The program, titled "Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor" will be hosted by British TV personality Zoe Ball and is said to feature outgoing Doc Matt Smith, executive producer Steven Moffat, and interviews with former cast members.
DWT also reports that the fave of U.K. bookies to assume the role is Peter Capaldi. Capaldi is best known to U.S. audiences as the hilariously foul-mouthed politician Malcolm Tucker in "The Thick of It" and its terrific spin-off film "In The Loop."

Capaldi previously appeared on a episode during David Tennant's run as the Doctor and has been a fan of the series since he was a child. When he was 15 he penned a fan letter which was published in the British newspaper Radio Times. You can read that here. Capadli was recently seen in "World War Z" where he was credited as "W.H.O. Doctor"! Coincidence? I think n--
Yes. Yes it is. It's a coincidence.
A rumor that the next Doctor would be a woman became mightily intriguing when during an interview with Ashley Eckstein for MTV Geek, Matt Smith shared advice for the next Doctor, "whomever he or she might be." Watch that video here:
