Hurd discussed some of the recent staff changes on the show, which included the promotion of writer Scott Gimple to showrunner, following the high-profile departure of Glenn Mazzara. "We are one big family, we always promote from within, and we give opportunities to people who've earned them," Hurd said. She wasn't overly concerned with the change in guard on the show, offering that after the second "Terminator" film, subsequent entries were handled by different directors to keep the franchises going.
When pressed about secrets and revelations for the upcoming fourth season, Hurd promised "danger from within" and "from without" with the walkers coming in as a bigger threat. "It's four years into this apocalypse, and they outnumber us now," she explains.

The two-part "The Walking Dead" premiere is set for October 13 at 9pm.
