Watch: The "Legend of Korra" on the origins of bending

Have we seen every variation of bending in "The Legend of Korra?" In a sit-down chat with MTV Geek's Steven Smith at San Diego Comic-Con, series creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino promised that the introduction of blood bending in the first season wasn't the end of of the evolution of bending.

The focus of the season season of the Nickelodeon series will focus on the spiritual aspects of being the Avatar, and to that end, viewers will get to see a new technique which extends from water bending. "It's a skill that Unalaq can do," DiMartino, explains, revealing that Korra's uncle and chief of the water tribe has mastered the ability to control spirits with his bending.

Konietzko adds that it's another side to water bending, in the same way that we've seen it used for healing in past episodes.

"The Legend of Korra Book Two: Spirits" will premiere in September on Nickelodeon.
