SDCC 2013: Jeff Smith Announces New ‘Bone’ Projects

In his spotlight panel on Thursday afternoon of San Diego Comic-Con (which kicked off with a reading from the forthcoming full-color edition of his self-published “RASL” series), Jeff Smith made the surprise announcement that he has been talking to Scholastic about creating a couple new “Bone” projects.

He provided few details beyond that, offering only that unlike Scholastic’s series of “Bone: Quest For The Spark” YA novels, “they’ll be all by me”, and that “they won’t be sequels” but some other sort of story set in the world of Boneville.

Despite the lack of concrete information, this is cause for celebration.  Jeff Smith is one of the medium’s modern-day masters, and Bone is justifiably revered by readers of all ages for its blend of fantasy, adventure, and humor.
