Chris Eccleston Is Returning To 'Doctor Who' (Sort Of)

Whovians everywhere were sad to hear that Chris Eccleston, who played the Ninth incarnation of Doctor Who, was not going to return for the show's 50th anniversary special. However, fans will soon get to see a return of Eccleston to the series...or, at least, hear his return.

In next week's episode "Journey To The Centre of the TARDIS," audio of Eccleston will be played in one scene. His line? "The assembled hordes of Genghis Khan couldn't get through these doors, and believe me they've tried."

Of course, those words were taken from the first episode of the new Doctor Who series, "Rose." While it seems unlikely Eccleston himself will return to the show any time soon, maybe he can make an "appearance" in the 50th anniversary special in the same manner? We'll see!

The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary will air Saturday, November 23rd.
