Annikin Starkiller Lives In 'The Star Wars' Comic

This September, LucasBooks executive editor J. W. Rinzler, artist Mike Mayhew, and Dark Horse Comics will launch "The Star Wars," based on George Lucas' original draft for the epic series.

As many fans know, "The Star Wars" was very different from what eventually became "Star Wars" in 1977. The main character was Jedi Annikin Starkiller, Luke Skywalker was an adult general, Han Solo was a reptillian alien, and Darth Vader was named Jedi Kane Starkiller. According to Rinzler, the always self-critical Lucas was initially hesitant to let his early work into the wild, but with Dark Horse's help , he was able to convince him to sign off on "The Star Wars."

Here's a look at Mayhew's art featuring (I think) Annikin Starkiller, General Skywalker, and the early princess Leia.
