In chat with THR, "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas spoke about the huge success of his Kickstarter campaign that has thus far earned nearly $3.7 million bucks, with 24 days to go. Almost $2 million over its goal. He said he plans to bring the movie to Comic-Con and film a behind-the-scenes doc on the making of the project.
We’re hoping to go to Comic-Con, maybe have some footage to show at Comic-Con. We have a documentary following the making of the movie.
In the same interview Thomas explained how his writing of the script is based on how much moolah the movie nets, especially when it comes to the extravagance of certain scenes.
There are very specific things that are going to be affected by what our budget is...There’s an altercation [at a high school reunion in the film], and how much money we raise affects whether that is having terse words exchanged or a full-on brawl... One if we hit certain dollar amounts, and the less spectacular if we haven’t.
It's still up the air whether Thomas, Kristen Bell and company are guaranteed to hit up Comic-Con, but how could they not, right? That's where the heart of this Kickstarter campaign will be. Bring it to the people.
