You heard right: there is a new “Harry Potter” cover out . Not a new book, mind you. But a new cover.
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of “Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone,” Scholastic commisioned new covers for trade paperback versions of all seven books by artist Kazu Kibuishi. Kibuishi is the cartoonist behind Scholastic’s popular “Amulet” graphic novel series.
When asked by The Wall Street Journal about “Potter” author J.K. Rowling’s opinion of the reimagined covers, Kibuishi said:
“Yes. I heard she likes them. When I got news of this from Scholastic, I felt a massive sense of relief, and I felt much more comfortable moving forward!”
Fans of the original “Harry Potter” covers by Mary GrandPré shouldn’t worry — her art will still be featured on the hardcover and digital editions of the books.
The 15th Anniversary Editions of the “Harry Potter” series will be released in September.
