Take A Tour Of All The Latest 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Toys!

By Jim Kiernan

The 2013 New York Toy Fair is still two weeks away, but Playmates Toys held a special preview today in New York City to unveil their upcoming line of all things Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and I was first in line with MTV Geek to check it all out.

Watch our video tour below!

It’s been a banner year for the Turtles. The iconic heroes have toured the world making stops at the 2012 Toy Fair, San Diego Comic Con, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and New York Comic Con. A new hit animated show was launched on Nickelodeon last September featuring the voice talents of Sean Astin and Jason Biggs which continues to click with the next generation of fans, and a live-action film produced by Michael Bay is scheduled to hit theaters next year (and yes, Playmates will have a toy line to coincide with the film’s release).

Playmates Toys’ Director of Marketing Chris Kay gave us a tour of the showroom, which had on display a wide variety of new products based on the Nickelodeon program, as well as Classic Collection figures suitable for action packed play for both kids and older fans. To round out all your Turtle needs, playsets, motorized vehicles and fun role-play accessories were on hand as well.

Our four favorite pizza-loving heroes in a half shell, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo look to be well represented. Their various highly detailed action figures include new imaginative designs, some of which that have yet to appear on the animated show.

From the Flingers Deluxe Line

The Flingers Deluxe line allows you to load and launch projectiles, which for Raphael is his signature weapon of choice, Sais. The 6-inch Classic Collection will continue to please old school fans who grew up with the original animated show. The iconic baddies are represented as well. Led by Shredder, the villains line has new additions that include fan favorites Bebop and Rocksteady.

Also of note are the Mutagen Ooze Canisters, a remote control Shellraiser vehicle that zips across the floor and launches sewer covers, and Patrol Buggies for each Turtle that can link into one Mega Ninja Buggy.

For role-play fans, in addition to a set of deluxe masks of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo that have real silk straps, kids can look forward to a hard plastic turtle shell they can wear on their backs which completes their transformation into their favorite character.

Dress up like your favorite turtle!

Playsets include the immense Secret Sewer Lair, which stands a whopping 42” tall. The underground home base for the Turtles includes 12 separate activity stations for various action figures. The Anchovy Alley Pop-Up Pizza Playset transforms from what appears to be an innocuous pizza box into an action packed playset.

There is much more to come for certain, with additional toys set to be on display at the Toy Fair, which will hits New York City from February 10-13th.
