Meet the heroes in this superheroes-meets-“Saw” feature from “The FP” director Jason Trost.
You have to give it to Trost–love or hate his films, he’s got some clever concepts. His first, “The FP,” imagines an apocalyptic wasteland where gangs battle it out for superiority using “DDR”-style rhythm games. His latest, “All Superheroes Must Die” (originally titled “Vs.”), pits four superheroes against a gauntlet of killers and heavies for the fate of a small town. The cast isn’t bad, either, with James Remar (“The Warriors,” “Dexter”) playing supervillain Rickshaw with Trost joining “X-Men: First Class” star Lucas Till as two of the heroes facing their nemesis’ maze of death. And any movie that has “The People Under the Stairs” actor Sean Whalen playing an Uncle Sam-themed villain named “Manpower” deserves a look.
From the official synopsis:
Four masked avengers find themselves stripped of their powers by a cruel arch-nemesis they defeated years earlier … or so they thought. When the sinister mastermind puts the heroes through a series of brutal challenges that are virtually impossible to overcome, they must battle the clock – and even each other – in a race to stop a deadly countdown that could mean total destruction.
The cards were created as a promo for the home video release (so don’t go looking for them in stores), but they should give you a nice preview of some of the characters from the film, which is out this week on DVD and Blu-ray from Image Entertainment.
