'Ultimate Spider-Man' Season 2 Dated, Getting Quesada-Hosted Segments

"Ultimate Spider-Man" head back to Disney XD in January in a two-part premiere as the network adds interstitials hosted by Marvel CCO Joe Quesada.

The new season kicks off on Monday, January 21 at 7 PM EST as Spider-Man faces off against the Lizard and Electro with the help of Nova, White Tiger, Iron Fist, and Power Man. "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and "American Dad!" voice actor Dee Bradley Baker will be playing the Lizard in the episode. The new season will see Spider-Man up against the Secret Six and their secret sixth member, along with the villain Loki targeting ol' webhead.

Disney XD also plans to encourage kids to read (by pushing some classic Marvel comics, naturally) in "Marvel Comics Close-Up," a series of interstitials hosted by Marvel Chief Creative Officer, artist, and writer Joe Quesada with co-hosting duties by Dylan Riley Snyder. The segments will call out specific issues from contemporary and older series like "Thor" #364, which will introduce viewers to Frog Thor.

Following the two-part premiere, "Ultimate Spider-Man" will return to its regular Sunday slot at 11 AM ET.
