A small gift for a section of you. This is today! Don't read too much into it. It is what it is.
That's what actor Noel Clarke Instagrammed yesterday, accompanying a picture of him and current Doctor Matt Smith hanging out in what looks like a wintry background. For those who don't know, Clarke appeared on 'Doctor Who' at various points between 2006 and 2010, as the boyfriend of companion Rose Tyler, Mickey Smith.
And sure, Clarke said not to read too much into the picture, but let's do that anyway, shall we?
We know that "Doctor Who's" 50th Anniversary is approaching, and speculation is running wild that every old Doctor, Companion, and even a few of the craft services people will be coming back for any number of specials, ranging from one movie length spectacular, to a new, 24-hour long special running ever day from now until Matt Smith dies.
So basically, we don't know anything. But we do know that if there did need to be a connection between new(er) Who, and slightly older Who, getting Clarke would be a good, easy bet. As opposed to the Companions from the Tennant era, who were trapped in alternate dimensions forever (Rose), or memory-wiped and banned from seeing the Doctor forever (Donna), or were... Well, actually, the third one, Martha Smith, was teamed up with Mickey last time we saw her, so maybe we'll see her again?
Point being: Clarke is a star on the rise, having a prominent role as "Guy Who Drops Ring Into Glass of Water" in 'Star Trek Into Darkness,' and there's nothing plot-wise barring him from showing up on the show in 2013.
So what do you think, folks? Want to see former whiner, current alien-hunting bad-ass Mickey mix it up with Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman?
