What's New With Doctor Who: Happy Birthday Who, Doctor Whooves, and Dalek Hats

Welcome to our time-traveling, space-warping round up of all the news we could find about the world’s most popular Timelord, Doctor Who. And there’s a ton of news to get through because, remember: this article is bigger on the inside.

ITEM! Happy Birthday, Doctor!

You don't look a day over 900... Is the joke everyone probably made over the weekend, as we celebrated the 49th anniversary of the first episode of Doctor Who. That means the official 50th anniversary is November 23, 2013, so mark your calendars now: while this year passed during Thanksgiving, next year will most likely be a huge blow-out. For the record, the still above is from "The Unearthly Child," which introduced everyone's second favorite Time Lord, the TARDIS, and more. The first favorite is Runcible The Fatuous, natch. Everybody loves Runcible.

ITEM! 'Snowmen' Gets Posterized

BBC has released the first look at the poster and still of the villains in the upcoming Christmas Special, 'The Snowmen.' I don't know about you guys, but I keep going back and forth about the look, between, "Well that's silly!" and "But if I saw a snowman like that in real life, I'd be terrified." And that's kind of Doctor Who in a nutshell, isn't it? [Cue Austin Powers saying, "No, this is Doctor Who in a nutshell," and scrambling around on his back for the next five minutes.]

TUMBLR! Exterminate Your Thirst

Tumblers: they're not just for The Dark Knight anymore.

TIME! Fan Film Of The Time War Is Coming

Here's something pretty ambitious: the above is a trailer for a fan-made mega-cut, flashing back and showing what happened to lock every Timelord from all of existence, leading in to the rebooted series. Will it make any sense when done? Who knows? I'll watch it, though, because that's ALL I DO.

HAT! Dalek Hat Trumps Jayne Hat

If you have to stay warm this winter, why not do it with a murderous, unfeeling alien monster on your head?

HORSEY! Doctor Whooves Gets Plush

It's just come to my attention - not being a Brony and all - that Doctor Whooves is an actual character on My Little Pony, called The Time Turner, and not just some sort of insane fever dream created by the Internet. And now there's a plush, so that's happening.

SEX! And Violins

We'll leave you with this sweet cover of the Doctor Who theme on violin:
