‘American Horror Story’ Will Return To Haunt Us With A Third Season

The most interesting reveal from FX’s announcement that “American Horror Story” would be getting a third season is that season one retroactively has a subtitle: “Murder House.” Not to shrug off the Emmy-winning horror seasons nabbing another season for creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck–with the ratings keeping as steady as they have been for this season’s “Asylum,” it was only a matter of time before FX committed to another one.

According to FX President John Landgraf, the network are really digging the format of the series which uses each season as an anthology featuring a new set of characters and locations while retaining some of the original cast: “[T]heir original idea—the notion of doing an anthological series of miniseries with a repertory cast—has proven groundbreaking, wildly successful and will prove to be trendsetting. We can’t wait to see what deviously brilliant ideas they come up with for their third miniseries.”

Season two is set during the 60’s inside of a Massachusetts mental institution which not only has Jessica Lange’s sadistic nun stalking the grounds but the monstrous creations of a possible ex-Nazi scientist and maybe even a demon. Personally, I’d love or the next season to jump ahead to the 80’s so maybe we could get some of the flavor of Reagan-era terror and fashion.

We can expect season three sometime next fall, and the current season will run through January 23rd.
