Last week we, by way of MTV Splash Page told you about the rumor that Guillermo del Toro was in talks to take the reins on a "Justice League Dark" movie called "Heaven Sent" featuring DC's supernatural superheroes like John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Zantana and others. We took that news with a hearty -- though admittedly wishful -- grain of salt, but it turns out it might not have been such a RUMOR rumor after all.
When I had the chance to speak with the writer/director/producer about the Dark Horse comic and TV adaptation of his vampire book series "The Strain" (watch for that interview next week!) I just had to slip in a question about "Heaven Sent."
MTV Geek: These seem to pop up all the time about you...about you working on something...but something came up about a potential "Justice League Dark" movie with Constantine and Swamp Thing...any truth at all to that?
Guillermo del Toro: When somebody asked me about "Justice League"…I'm not involved in "Justice League." I am discussing…I've been discussing with the fans and I've been very, very open about how much "Swamp Thing" was key when I was a kid. Comics in Mexico came on the first two days of the week. Around Tuesday and Wednesday I would go to the newsstand on my bicycle and I would get "Swamp Thing" every time it was available and I loved Jack Kirby's "Demon". I love Constantine and all that. You know, I've been pursuing doing something with them for many, many years. Hopefully it'll come to pass. But we are still just discussing.
So don't start celebrating just yet. But at least this lends a dash of "yeah we're talking about it" to that aforementioned grain of salt.
