Clark Kent Quits Daily Planet To Become Blogger

take that, old papery dinosaur media!

Superman alter-ego Clark Kent is no fool -- why work for an hoary old workhorse like The Daily Planet (which has been recently purchased by multimedia giant Galaxy Broadcasting), when he can just strike out on his own armed with nothing but a Wordpress account and a dream (and, well, tons of superpowers).

In Superman #13, hitting stands this Wednesday, Kent does exactly that -- having a "Jerry Maguire" moment where he realizes integrity is more important than fluffy news items and softball interview questions. As "Superman" writer Scot Lobdell explained to USA Today:

"Rather than Clark be this clownish suit that Superman puts on, we're going to really see Clark come into his own in the next few years as far as being a guy who takes to the Internet and to the airwaves and starts speaking an unvarnished truth."

personally, I feel Clark's doing all this because he feels dissed by Lois for dating another guy

As to what Kent will be doing instead of slaving away for the Planet and editor Perry White, Lobdell offered some intriguing options:

"I don't think he's going to be filling out an application anywhere. He is more likely to start the next Huffington Post or the next Drudge Report than he is to go find someone else to get assignments or draw a paycheck from."

That's right -- Kent don't have to take any guff from "The Man" anymore. He can just call it as he sees it. Bringing the news directly to the People!  Writing about what is important! Uplifting and educating the masses -- not dumbing then down with celebrity gossip and Internet memes.

So I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited about Kent's new direction here. And you know what would make me even more excited, DC? MORE STORIES ABOUT SUPERMAN AND WONDER WOMAN "DOING IT" ! They are what is known in the trade as "instant crowd pleasers." I can stretch that stuff out for DAYS. Also, a photo essay of cats dressed as the Justice League of America. And a gallery of 90's superhero mullets that we can all have a good laugh at.

And a photo leak from Nightwing's phone. Tastefully done, of course.
