Amphibious Quadski ATV Takes To Land And Sea At 45 MPH!

Aside form the awesomely ridiculous submersible Lotus we saw James Bond drive, amphibious rides that take to land and sea have, for the most part, been nothing more than a novelty. However, the gnarly looking watercraft you see above is much more than that. In fact, the Quadski can hit 45 mph on land and water and it could be on sale here in the U.S. as soon as November.

Created by Alan Gibbs, founder of Gibbs Sports Amphibians, the Quadski looks like your typical four-wheeler at first glance, but turn away for even a moment and this sneaky amphibian could be halfway across the lake. Riders can literally drive right into the water and turn the Quadski into a personal watercraft with the press of button. According to the official website, the transformation between land and sea travel only takes a few seconds.

“You just drive straight into the water, quite fast, and keep on going. It’s sort of magic,” Alan Gibbs, told The Associated Press in a recent interview.

The one problem the Quadski may run into comes with the price tag. I’ve owned a couple jet-skis in my life and know for a fact that you can buy one brand new for under $10,000. Four-wheelers are even cheaper, coming in as low as $5,000. Gibbs, on the other hand, plans to sell the Quadski for surprising $40,000.

It will no doubt be a tough sell, but Gibbs is hoping the vehicle has more than just recreational appeal. While outdoorsmen will obviously be target customers, Gibbs also believes the Quadski could very useful to first responders.

There are plans to make the Quadski available globally, but the initial launch will only see Quadskis hitting power sports dealers concentrated in Florida, Texas, the New York to Boston corridor and the Great Lakes region. if you want to see it in action, watch the video.
