Fox Prepping Animated 'Peanuts' Movie For 2015

According to L.A. Times, Fox has officially announced that FX house and animation studio Blue Sky, the people behind the CG "Ice Age" features, is producing a feature-length animated film based on Charles Schulz's strip. And from the sounds of it, it's going to be CG.

With a planned November 25th, 2015 release date, the feature will be directed by Steve Martino, who also directed "Ice Age: Continental Drift" and "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who" for Fox. The as of now unnamed film is based on a script by Schulz's son and grandson Craig Schulz and Bryan Schulz, along with Cornelius Uliano (a relative newbie with a couple of self-written and directed shorts on his resume).

While the L.A. Times piece doesn't state outright whether the film will be CG or traditional animation, this quote from Craig Schulz leads me to believe it will be the former: "We finally felt the time was right and the technology is where we need it to be to create this film."

The Times points out that the November 25th release date would mark the 65th anniversary of the trip and the 50th anniversary of the "Charlie Brown Christmas" special.
