It's 'Sherlock' Vs. 'Elementary' As Benedict Cumberbatch Snarks

It's on! First "Sherlock" executive producer Steven Moffat told IGN in June that he felt CBS' upcoming "Elementary" would "debase" the BBC version of the Sherlock Holmes mythos. Now series star Benedict Cumberbatch has come out swinging regarding "Elementary", saying "I’m a bit cynical about why they’ve chosen to do it..."

The "Star Trek 2" actor recounted for Shortlist a conversation he had with "Elementary's" Jonny Lee Miller about the new show:

"Well, I’d prefer you didn’t do it but you’ve got a kid to feed, a nice house in LA and a wife to keep in good clothes."

The snark didn't end there, as Cumberbatch elaborated on why Miller took the job: "When you get used to a certain standard of living and they waft a pay cheque at you, what are you going to do?"

"Elementary" features Jonny Lee Miller and a female Watson in the form of Lucy Liu

So do we have months of "Sherlock"/"Elementary" feuding to look forward to in the future? Will audiences not take to the CBS series and Miller's interpretation of Sherlock Holmes? And, more importantly --  what does Robert Downey Jr. have to say about all this?
