Shout! Factory Set to Release 'Aquabats! Super Show!' and 'Monsuno'

Shout! Factory is partnering up with Freemantle Media to bring home the live-action musical superhero series Aquabats along with the Dentsu/Jakks anime Monsuno.

More details and series synopses after the jump.

The two kid-friendly series air on the Hub and Nickelodeon respectively, targeting kids into either brightly-colored, animation/live-action hybrid programming or straight up shonen-style anime like Monsuno.

The release didn't have any specific release date details for either title for home video, but we'll likely hear something soon about Shout! Factory's plans to get both shows on store shelves and/or available online.

Aquabats! Super Show! was created by band member and Yo Gabba Gabba co-creator Christian Jacobs who explained the origins of the series in an interview earlier this year:

The main thing we always wanted to do was make the show like Danger Island or some of the live-action Batman or live action kids’ shows. Because I feel like there are so many cartoons out there and there’s really not—I mean, there’s Power Rangers, there’s some live-action kids’ shows. But most of the live-action kids’ shows now are almost sitcoms, and there’s not live, capital letter “Action” shows for kids.

.

Then again, if anime is more your thing, there's always Monsuno (from the official synopsis):

The MONSUNO series is an epic boys action adventure series where kids discover, command and battle creatures with tremendous destructive potential. When a race to harness the power of Monsuno ensues between a group of everyday kids and the evil forces focused on destroying the Earth, our heroes spring into action to defend our planet. Built around powerful, action-driven animation, dynamic characters and a deeply woven original story mythology, MONSUNO provides a completely original entertainment experience. The series is co-produced by Pacific Animation Partners LLC, a joint venture between JAKKS Pacific, Inc. & Dentsu Entertainment USA, Inc., with FremantleMedia Enterprises and The Topps Company, Inc. and is supported by a JAKKS Pacific toy line featuring innovative, kid-controlled action figures, accessories, playsets, collectables, electronics and integrated role play.

Aquabats! Super Show! just wrapped its first season back in June, but you can catch reruns Saturdays at nooon ET on the Hub and Monsuno airs on Thursday nights at 8:30 on Nickelodeon.
