Shout! Factory's 'They Live' DVD and Blu Cover is Obviously All Out of Bubblegum

John Carpenter's anti-consumerist sci-fi satire is headed to DVD and Blu-ray on November 6th from Shout! Factory's horror imprint, Scream Factory, and it's getting a retro-style cover.

Check out the full-sized artwork and some of the preliminary disc details after the jump.

This special edition version of the 1988 film features art by The Dude Designs (aka Tom Hodge), with package design by David Levine and featuring art direction from Shout! Factory's Karrie Stouffer. This artwork will also be available in a limited-edition poster (only 500 are being made) that you can score by ordering the They Live DVD or Blu directly from the Shout! Factory site.

Check it out in its full Rowdiness (and you can see an even larger version from the Dude Designs blog at the bottom of the post):

Alternately, if, for whatever reason, you're dissatisfied with their Cannon-in-the-80's style design, you can flip it over to the original key art from the theatrical release.

This is the second go-round for They Live on Blu following the 2008 Studio Canal release in the EU and one of several home video releases over the last decade after it was briefly out of print (for a while there you could earn yourself a healthy amount of change selling the first DVD from Universal). Shout! Factory is promising an anamorphic widescreen presentation of the film along with a new extras including interviews, commentary, and archival material.

This is one I'm looking forward to, if only for the Piper/David fight in glorious HD.
