‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Director Chu To Helm ‘Masters Of The Universe’ Movie

From one toy line to another.

Jon M. Chu is in talks to direct a live-action “Masters of the Universe” movie based on the long-running action figure series. Chu is currently overseeing the 3D conversion of “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” The “Joe” sequel was originally scheduled for a July release, but was pushed back to March 29, 2013, for pretty vague reasons in addition to the addition of the third dimension.

This is the second crack at a film based on He-Man and his crew following the endearingly terrible Dolph Lundgren vehicle that saw our Eternian heroes sent to Earth to hang out with Courtney Cox and this musical keyboard cylinder thing that creates portals or something. Oh yeah, and Frank Langella was Skeletor.

Specifics about the new flick are not available at this time.

How do you guys think a “Masters of the Universe” movie will work? Should it be a comedy? Hardcore? Gritty? Let us know in the comments below.
