For all of you who grew up with My Little Pony, it’s finally happening: a My Little Pony comic book series. Yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con IDW Publishing and Hasbro, Inc. announced that they’ll be coming out with "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" comics later this year.
As one can tell from the title, this comic will be based on the current My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic cartoon, but the comic will offer new stories instead of repeating ones already on the show. IDW also says the series will be written so that older readers can enjoy it as well.
“My Little Pony is a highly successful brand and we’re incredibly excited to have the opportunity to extend the franchise through this collaboration with Hasbro,” said Ted Adams, the CEO and Publisher of IDW. “We look forward to providing new stories for the fans and launching their favorite ponies into comic book form.”
The comic will be hitting shelves this November, and it’s being written by Katie Cook (Gronk) with Andy Price (DC Legacy) doing the art. Special covers will be done by Jill Thompson (Sandman) and Stephanie Buscema (Womanthology), with more names yet to be announced.
