SDCC 2012: Max Brooks, Mark Waid and Shane Davis 'Shadow Walk' For Legendary

By Danica Davidson

Legendary Comics is hoping to make a, well, legendary new comic with Shadow Walk, which will be debuting next year. Using San Diego Comic-Con as a great platform, the publishing company announced this week that Mark Waid (Daredevil), Shane Davis (Superman: Earth One) and Max Brooks (G.I. Joe: Hearts & Minds) have been tapped to be the creative talents behind this new title.

The name Shadow Walk comes from the famous line “As I Walk Through The Valley In The Shadow of Death” and puts forth the idea that the valley we’re talking about isn’t a metaphor. Apparently the valley is in Iraq because there are similar reports of soldiers going there and mysteriously disappearing. The area is photographed, and the photos reveal things that can’t be explain by science. Now, with more recent disappearances, the characters in Shadow Walk will be investigating to see what’s really going on — and they’ll have help from the skull of John the Baptist and a piece of Jesus’s cross.

This religiously themed thriller isn’t the only title Legendary Comics wants to talk about at Comic-Con. They’re also pushing The Tower Chronicles, which is being released in September and is being done by Matt Wagner (Grendel) and Simon Bisley (2000 AD). Legendary Comics has more announcements coming today, so keep your ears open!
