Remember the little boy from that Volkswagen Star Wars ad that set the world ablaze during Superbowl XLV where he attempted to use the force while dressed as Darth Vader? Well we're sorry to report that the littlest member of the Dark Side is undergoing open-heart surgery to fix a hole in his heart and have his pulmonary valve replaced.
7 year-old Max Page checked into the Children's Hospital Los Angeles today and according to his mother Jennifer Page, in an interview on NBC's "Today Show" Max is understandably afraid:
Max was crying and repeating how scared how he was. We unpeeled the layers by asking what exactly he was afraid of and tackled each issue as he could verbalize it. Blood draws, spending the night in the hospital and hurting are the big three. He was also very sad that summer would be in rest in recovery instead of playing baseball, golf and traveling. But, she reported that Max very thoughtfully said:
Mom I don't have a choice. I have to go through it. I don't like it and it's still scary-but I have to. So I think I might as well go through it with a good attitude.
According MSNBC, Max has worked as an ambassador for the Children's Hospital, raising money for other children with heart defects, so let's all think happy thoughts about young Max today. He deserves it.
May the Force be with him.
