'Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes' Fan Start Online Petition To Protest Cancellation

One "Avengers: Earth's Mightest Heroes" fan didn't passively take the news that his favorite cartoon is being cancelled -- he turned to the mighty power of the Online Petition!

In a petition on Change.org called "Marvel Entertainment, Disney, Joe Quesada, and Jeph Loeb: Do not cancel the Marvel "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" cartoon," Jason Driggers of Spokane, WA wrote:

"This show is the only cartoon based on Marvel comic characters that is currently on tv. It is a great success with both ratings and fans, and has only just started its second season. Jeph Loeb feels that the story-arcs are too long and that every episode should be self-contained. The plan is to cancel this show and start a new show with self-contained episodes that are more "kid-friendly".is

The story-arc's are NOT a bad thing, when the show itself is properly written (Unlike NBC's "Heroes") and the continuity all makes sense. Like the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

A simple solution would be to make another, more kid-friendly, cartoon such as the cancelled "Super Hero Squad". Leave the "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" ALONE!"

While Diggers is clearly not counting "Ultimate Spider-Man" as a Marvel cartoon, I get the angst of the TV fan who has invested so much in a series.

So far, there has been almost 6,000 online signatures on the petition, with a stated goal of 7,500.

Marvel is debuting a new Avengers cartoon, "Marvel's Avengers Assemble," in 2013.
