What's New With Doctor Who: Prometheus Crossover, Companion Photos, and Goodnight Pond

Welcome to our time-traveling, space-warping round up of all the news we could find about the world’s most popular Timelord, Doctor Who. And there’s a ton of news to get through because, remember: this article is bigger on the inside.

ITEM! Actual Photos of Jenna-Louise Coleman Surface

Over the weekend, the BBC posted two press photos of Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman hanging out on set... Though they contain pretty much zero spoilers, they do prove that the two actors know who each other are, so that's something. They also establish that the Doctor may be getting a new costume, possibly? And also, we like to imagine that in the above image at least, Smith is trying to explain to new actor Coleman what a script is, and how to use one. "So, I read these lines, and then what happens?" "Sigh. Let's take this again from the top."

ITEM! Prometheus/Doctor Who Crossover

Okay, so I totally missed this (because I haven't seen the movie yet I'M SORRY), but apparently there's a bit of crossover between Doctor Who and Ridley Scott's Prometheus - or at least a reference. In the movie, Noomi Rapace's character is named Dr. Elizabeth Shaw, which was also the name of one of Doctor Who's Companions. Further evidence? Scott was a designer for the BBC, and had always hoped to work on Who... But missed his chance.

ITEM! The Lodger Wins A Tony

You might remember James Corden from his recurring role as Craig Owens, the bumbling guy who became friends with the Doctor in The Lodger, and then showed up again with a baby in Closing Time. Well, congrats are in order, as the actor won a Tony this weekend for his lead role in Broadway's One Man, Two Guvnors, inspired, of course, but the viral video with a very similar name. Not really.

GOODNIGHT! Parody Book Is Doctor Who For Kids

Coming later this month, there's a parody of the classic children's book "Goodnight Moon," called "Goodnight Pond." Fingers crossed there's a double page spread with something like, "Goodnight, Silence. Goodnight... What were we just saying goodnight to?" You can pre-order the book here.

HOLY SHIRT! This Design Is Hard to Look At

Seriously, it is, right? But this awesome TARDIS shirt by Laugh Out Loud Cats' Adam Koford is also delightful, and available on Woot right now!

It would be a shame to drink this, but it would also be a shame not to.

RETRO! Ghosts Of the TARDIS Time Travels Through Google

This rather amazing project takes old photos featuring the TARDIS (well, police boxes at least), and places them in modern photos from Google Maps. The results are pretty spectacular.
