'Teen Titans Go!'-ing Back to Cartoon Network in 2013

The super-deformed comedy featuring Robin, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Raven, and Starfire will join Cartoon Network's DC Nation block of programming next year.

This morning's announcement from Cartoon Network says that the show will be joining the DC Nation hour of programming, Saturdays from 10:00-11:00 A.M., one would presume while Green Lantern and Young Justice are between seasons. The pitch for the show is that it'll present the lighter side of being a superhero, from doing laundry, to Beast Boy-related pranks, to Robin wrecking the Batmobile to impress a girl.

Returning to the series are Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Scott Menville as Robin, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Tara Strong as Raven and Hynden Walch as Starfire.

While it's got the same character designs and voice cast, Teen Titans Go! doesn't sound like it will be a continuation of the 2003-2006 series Teen Titans. That anime-inspired series ran for 63 episodes and mixed comedy with a touch of dark drama (Deathstroke the Terminator, going by the name "Slade" was their primary antagonist throughout, and if I recall, they even covered "The Judas Contract" storyline at one point).

In any event, Cartoon Network and DC continue to do a good job of varying up the type of DCU programming that's on TV and seem interested in bringing viewers diverse takes on their characters.
