Jerry O'Connell has been tapped to fill the platform shoes that once belonged to the great Fred Gwynne in "The Munsters" reboot for NBC. The edgier, modernized remake will be called "Mockingbird Lane" and is being overseen by "Pushing Daises" creator Bryan Fuller and directed by "X-Men" director Bryan Singer.
Strange casting, but I assume it's safe to say that this new series will be a departure from the original.
O'Connell is joined by comedian Eddie Izzard as Grandpa and Mason Cook as werewolf tyke Eddie. More casting is yet to be announced.
According to Deadline, this Herman is described as "handsome and gangly...a great dad and devoted husband." It goes on to say that "Mockingbird's" story will be:
Herman works at a funeral home, and worries that Eddie’s transformation into a werewolf and burgeoning awareness of his family’s origins will crush the boy’s spirit.
Interesting. I guess we'll see what happens when the series debuts next season.
