This is MTV Geek's Battle Arena Otaku Fight! Fight! A tournament-style, knock-down, drag-out, free-for-all, battle royale featuring your favorite anime, manga and Japanese pop-culture characters! Each arena match-up will be posted and voted on by you, the MTV Geek reader, and each winner will advance closer and closer to becoming the supreme reigning champion of the Battle Arena Otaku! Who will take the top spot? Sailor Moon? Godzilla? Hello Kitty? There's only way to find out…FIGHT! FIGHT!

A girl looking for a good time and a kindergartener looking for the toilet; a world-famous thief looking for riches and an infamous samurai looking for redemption.

Admittedly, the Haruhi/Shin matchup might not seem like the most natural one. What's a perpetually bored teen got to do with a poop-obsessed five-year old? Well, nothing really, but both inevitably turn whatever mundane situation they started out in into something absurd and/or bizarre. [Note: the author of this piece has only encountered Shin through the FuniMation dubs of his long-running animated series and understands the Japanese originals are very different] So who will it be: the girl who's search for mystery in her mundane life or the kid who sidelines as a perverse superhero?

Now consider Lupin and Rurouni Kenshinlead Kenshin: in one corner, we've got the world's greatest thief (and gunning for the title of "biggest womanizer") going against the deadly yet sensitive samurai with the tasteful scar. Okay, they both have their merits, but think about it: Lupin can (and will) steal anything. So why not this competition? But I suppose we can't count out Kenshin: he's survived some tough challenges, most of them deadly. What's a little voting competition for a legendary assassin?
