Batwoman And Detective Comics Switch It Up With New Guest-Artists

Two artists of note are helping DC Comics "mix it up" on  the Bat-Titles, as DC Comics confirms that Ed Benes will fill in on "Detective Comics" and Trevor McCarthy takes on "Batwoman."

Starting in May, Benes, who has made his name on such titles as "Justice League of America," "Action Comics," and "Birds of Prey," will be stepping in for "Detective Comics" writer/artist Tony S. Daniel on issues 10-12. Daniel will continue to write the title during this period, and is scheduled to return to his art duties with issue 13.

Meanwhile, Trevor McCarthy, who most recently illustrated the acclaimed "Batman: Gates of Gotham" as well as the "New 52" "Nightwing," will be joining "Batwoman" writers J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman on an arc spanning issues 9 through 11. McCarthy takes over for artist Amy Reeder, and Williams is scheduled to return to ongoing illustration on "Batwoman" with issue 12.

With Reeder being a fan-favorite and Daniel's iconic run on everything Bat, the two artists have some pretty big (albeit temporary) shoes to fill. DC Editor-In-Chief Bob Harras acknowledged this fact, stating on the DC blog: "Both Trevor and Ed are going to have to bring their A-game to maintain those standards."
